I moved to Manchester from London back in August 2015 due to my work. It has been the most depressing 2 years of my life. I will list 8 reasons below why Manchester sucks and should be avoided at all costs!
1) The residents of Manchester, (Mancunians) Can't Take The Slightest Criticism
Manchester is not a city that takes constructive criticism well at all. No alternative opinion seems to gel except an atmosphere of sullen resentment to just about everyone who is not from Manchester. 'If you don't like it here, then go back home' is the solution to any form of critique. They will get their backs up and verbally and even physically abuse you for it. Mancunians have the worst case of inferiority complex you will ever encounter and strong resentment towards those from the south. Be warned!
2) Boring Boredom Yawn!
Ok, I'll say it right out, Manchester is boring and dull as hell! The people here have deluded themselves in believing they live in utopia which they defend to the death when the reality of the matter is Manchester is a depressing cold and soul destroying city to live. Manchester is just boring. No food or decent arts culture to speak of and overall low on the fun scale.
3) Childhood Poverty
Child poverty is a huge problem which affects many children across Greater Manchester. Research published by the End Child Poverty Coalition found that 92 of the 215 wards in Greater Manchester suffer from child poverty rates of 25% or more. Four wards, Moss Side, Irwell Riverside, Ancoats and Clayton, Hulme and Ardwick have poverty rates of 50% or more. Manchester local authority area had the highest rate of severe child poverty in the country.
4) Litter Garbage Trash
This gets me very upset. Littering in Manchester is an embarrassment. I can only cringe to think what visitors and tourists to the area must be thinking. This is something you see in third world countries like Thailand and India.
And it gets to be getting worse and worse every passing day. It is absolutely disgusting to even walk through town at times. Where is the pride? Where are people's morals, and sense of basic duty? We are now attracting rats in plague like proportions They are everywhere! We are literally walking around in our own trash!
5) Drugs Gangs and Violence
Being a city with nothing much more to do than talk about football, it comes to no surprise we huge a problem with crime. Drugs gangs and violence has poisoned our youth making Manchester one of the most violent areas of England. I will let the stats below speak for themselves.
